The purpose of this organization is to inform people of the wonderful world of Algae, it's many uses.
Our Mission
ILOVEALGAE.ORG was formed because of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Seeing the devastation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast after finally coming back after Katrina has made me rethink my stand on offshore drilling.
Facts about Algae:
- Algae are among the fastest growing plants in the world, and produces more than 80% of the world's oxygen. They also help remove huge amounts of Carbon Dioxide because they feed off of it, converting it into bio-fuel.
- Algae can produce about 100,000 gallons of algae oil a year per acre, compared to about 30 gallons per acre from corn; and 50 gallons from soybeans.
- Algae can be used to make biodegradable plastics, feed livestock, and make cooking oil that has no trans-fat.
